IFNE neuroendoscopy course in Moscow

12/12/2021

Dear members of the International Federation of Neuroendoscopy,

It is with great pleasure to report that the IFNE neuroendoscopy course in Moscow took place as a face-to-face event. That was really a highlight in another year which was dominated by the corona pandemic. I want to thank Sergey Gorelyshev for taking the effort to organize a perfect course under these difficult conditions. I felt it very much that everyone enjoyed the “in-personam” contact after months of only on-line seminars and congresses. We hope that the next year brings us more of physical meetings. Please find the report of Serge and some impressions attached.

My best always,

Henry W. S. Schroeder
President, International Federation of Neuroendoscopy

The IFNE Educational Course with Hands-on Workshop on cerebral and ventricular neuroendoscopy took place in Moscow on November 24-26, 2021. This is one of the main official events of the International Federation of NeuroEndoscopy (IFNE).
Despite the ongoing pandemic the course was organized as an in-person event for 20 participants and 10 tutors/speakers. It became possible due to the improvement of the epidemic situation in Russia and absence of restrictions for organisation of social events.
This workshop was designed to offer to the participants the best possible update on the status and development of intracerebral and intraventricular neuroendoscopy by the main experts in the world. Together with lectures, participants were offered a very intensive, highly tutored hands-on training in all neuroendoscopic techniques. Ten working stations were fully equipped with the best possible technologies available (different kinds of endoscopes, neuroendoscopic ultrasonic surgical aspirators, endoscope assisted microsurgery, 3D endoscopes, exoscopes, microscopes, sets of endoscopic and microsurgical instruments, systems of irrigation and aspiration, bipolar coagulation and neuronavigation) with a trainee/tutor ratio of 2/1 per working
station, with several hours of everyday continuous tutoring, from the most basic procedures through the most advanced technique, both on high-level anatomical models and living animal models.
The course was successful not only in terms of educational activities, but also enhanced cooperation, and friendship. Faculty was presented by the best specialists from Europe, USA, Russia, Brazi,l and Israel. Participants from 11 countries from Europe, Middle East and Africa attended this Course.
