Welcome message
Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to announce the realization of the joint IFNE- JSNE – GLENISNE- CSNE Workshop on Cerebral and Ventricular Neuroendoscopy which for the first time this year is under the patronage of the Chinese Society of NeuroEndoscopy. The event takes place at the Center for Biotechnology, Antonio Cardarelli Hospital in Naples, Italy.
This is the main formative event of International Federation of NeuroEndoscopy (IFNE) in conjunction with the Latin-American Group of Study in Neuroendoscopy (GLEN) and the two largest and most active Neuroendoscopy Societies in the world, the Japanese Society for NeuroEndoscopy (JSNE) and the Indian Society for NeuroEndoscopy (ISNE).
This workshop has been designed to offer to the participants the best possible update on the status and development of intracerebral and intraventricular Neuroendoscopy by all the main experts in the world with the help of faculty members from the above cited societies. This goal has been reached through high level, highly focused lectures addressing all the pathologies that can be treated endoscopically, with special attention on indications, pre-op planning, surgical technique, tips & tricks and complication avoidance. Together with the lectures, participants are offered a very intensive, highly tutored handson training in all neuroendoscopic techniques. Twenty-four working stations fully equipped with the best possible technologies available (3D endoscopes, Thulium laser, Neuroendoscopic ultrasonic surgical aspirators, neuroendoscopy robots, endoscopeassisted microsurgery, endoscope assisted craniosynostosis surgery) are ruled by single world experts in the technique simulated at each working station, with a trainee/tutor ratio of 2/1 per working station, with several hours of continuous tutoring, from the most basic procedures through the most advanced technique, both on high-level anatomical models and living models.
Also, this year, we launched a dedicated own model training, with 3D printed multimaterial model of sagittal and metopic craniosynostosis in natural dimensions for intensive tutoring.
The Workshop is divided into two parts, accessible separately or together:
Basic Course (January 20-21, 2020): This course addresses the fundamentals of material and of the main basic techniques (ETV, Septostomy, arachnoid cysts). It includes 9 hours of hands-on training, with 30 tutors (tutor/trainee ratio 1:2) distributed on 24 working stations.
Advanced Course (January 22-24, 2020): This course addresses all the intermediate and most advanced techniques (Complex hydrocephalus, Tumor Biopsy and removal, Intracerebral and intraventricular clot removal, Intraventricular lavage in premees, Neurocysticercosis, Choroid plexus coagulation, Robotics, Endoscopic repair of craniosynostosis) allowing the use of the most updated worldwide technologies. It includes 14 hours of hands-on training with 47 tutors distributed on 24 fully equipped working stations (tutor/trainee ratio 1:1), each simulating different pathologies and techniques (hydrocephalus, intraventricular tumors, intracerebral hematoma, arachnoid cysts, craniosynostosis, robot guided neuroendoscopy). Lectures on instrumentation and arachnoid cysts will be performed in both courses by different speakers to favour trainees who register for a single course.
As you can see from the very intensive program, except social dinners very short time is left for other social events, but if you have chosen your hotel in the historical center of Naples you will live an authentic Neapolitan atmosphere, where “social” is nonsense word since the whole Neapolitan life is highly social in every manifestation. Enjoy the best (and real) pizzas in the world in the crowded and noisy pizzerias in the center, or fantastic dinner in refined restaurants by the sea, choose among several immense and world-renowned museums and many other attractions.
I am glad you have chosen to see personally how Neuroendoscopy is performed throughout the world by the most renowned experts in the field and I am confident that you will be able to learn and rapidly repeat all their techniques in a very intensive and short time thanks to the extensive and tutored hands-on work.
I am happy to welcome you in our fantastic and lively city and have the pleasure to meet you all in person.
